We are very proud of Melissa Cruthirds, Vice President of the Brunswick Junior Woman's Club, for being named Chair of the Glynn County Bar Association for 2017. In addition to general practice, Melissa specializes in divorce, custody, and child support issues. Using a common sense approach, she navigates families through the legal system in times of uncertainty. She also focuses on child advocacy as an attorney or Guardian ad litem for children involved in the DFACS system. Melissa is on the Board of the Georgia State Bar iCivics Committee and was names a State Bar of Georgia Pro Bono All Star in 2015 and 2016 for volunteering her time to low income Georgians in family matters. Congratulations Melissa!!

Holly Hickman, Event Coordinator for Jekyll Island, presents the check for $5,000.00 to The First Tee of the Golden Isles. The funds were raised at the 2016 Georgia Florida Golf Classic in October. Congratulations to Holly, the Jekyll Island Authority, The First Tee of the Golden Isles and all those who participated in and helped with the tournament.
BJWC was thrilled to partner with Faithworks Southeast Georgia to adopt two needy families for Christmas. Tonya Peden and Maaren Porter delivered the gifts to Faithworks! It was fun playing Santa!!
Congratulations to BJWC member Amy Wisenbaker and the employees of the Jekyll Island Club! They donated $1061 to Faithworks!! Great Job!!
Tonya Peden, Melissa Cruthirds and Jodie Legere spent a couple hours during the holidays to ring the bells for the Salvation Army. We had a great time helping out this great organization.

Ga/Fl Beach Clean Up
BCJW was proud to join KGIB and other community members to clean up the beach after the annual Georgia Florida Frat Beach Party. We even had time to enjoy a wonderful breakfast together before settling in for some football!
Pumpkin Painting at Safe Harbor
Amy Wisenbaker, Tonya Peden, Heather Hamilton, Alisa Adams and Melissa Cruthirds joined the kids at Safe Harbor Children's Center for a fun night of pumpkin decorating. Everyone tapped into their creative side and the results were fantastic! Some of the kids were wearing as much of the paint and glitter as they put on the pumpkins but that's half the fun!! We can't wait to work with these wonderful kids again.
Trot the Block in Her Shoes
The BJWC recently sponsored these wonderful men from Marsh's Edge in the Trot the Block in Her Shoes fundraiser for Glynn Community Crisis Center. Trot the Block raised funds and awareness for domestic violence in the Golden Isles. This was the first of many annual events!

Taste of the Vine
Taste of the Vine was held at Georgia Sea Grill on Sunday September 25. Sponsored in part by Marsh's Edge, Taste of the Vine is a fundraiser for the Coastal Coalition For Children. Julie Andrew And Tonya Peden were on hand to represent the BJWC!!
Redfern Goes Gold
Julie Andrew, Tonya Peden, Melissa Cruthirds, Holly Hickman and Maaren Porter recently joined the fun at Bubba's for Redfern Goes Gold! Redfern Goes Gold is a fundraiser for Childhood Cancer.
Our annual new member social, Cocktails and Conversations was held on August 11 at the Village Inn and Pub. Many women joined in the fun to learn more about the Brunswick Junior Woman's Club. 2015 awards were presented by our past President, Valerie Barnett. New Club Member of the Year went to Julie Andrew Tharpe and Club Member of the Year went to Tonya Peden. We are excited about the new year, our new members and the wonderful things that we can do for the community!
Olympic Bronze Medalist, Pro Golfer and St. Simons resident, Matt Kuchar, made his triumphant return from the 2016 Rio Olympics on Monday night. Of course the BJWC was there to welcome him home and congratulate him on his medal! He was very gracious, spending time with the crowd, making sure everyone got pictures and even letting people hold the medal! In case you are wondering, it is very heavy!! Congratulations Matt!! And thank you for your time!!

Safe Harbor held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new building on June 30. The new facility on Glouchester Street will have separate wings for the boys and girls each with sleeping quarters, bathrooms and dressing rooms. Common areas in the facility will include the dining room, living room, computer room, counseling room, study hall and tutoring area.
Safe Harbor has been helping abused and neglected children for 25 years. The BJWC is excited to be able to support this wonderful organization.

On Tuesday June 28 members of the BJWC attended the Safe Harbor Board Meeting. We were excited to present a check for $2000.00 to Safe Harbor to help this worthwhile cause.

Members of the Brunswick Junior Woman's Club recently held a pizza and movie party for the girls at Safe Harbor Children's Center. Our club members recognize the great things that Safe Harbor is doing in our community and are excited to support them with fundraising, education efforts and volunteer hours. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Blue Pinwheel is the symbol of child Abuse Prevention. The Wine, Women and Shoes Fashion Show was held in March at the beautiful Cloister Ballroom on Sea Island. WW&S is a benefit for Hospice of the Golden Isles. Melissa Cruthirds and Valerie Barnett volunteered as models for the event.
